Plitvice Lakes National Park has 16 lakes; all joined together by jaw-dropping waterfalls. This is the ideal spot to bathe in the turquoise waters, and you’ll definitely want to bring a waterproof camera – the photo opportunities here are endless. There are plenty of luxury accommodation options nearby, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a place to stay.

Nang Yuan Island, Thailand

This small island, located not far from Koh Tao, is a must visit if you want some adventure from your luxury trip. If you’ve never been to South East Asia before, don’t panic. Sure, there are plenty of stories, but actually, the people are very welcoming, and it’s relatively safe. Nang Yuan is the perfect destination for a spot of diving, and you can charter a longtail boat yourself to escape other tourists. There is one resort on the island, which is nice enough, but you may be better off finding somewhere to stay on another island and arranging a day trip to Nang Yuan instead.

Chapwani Private Island, Tanzania

One of the best things about Africa is that you can mix luxury with some utterly amazing experiences. Many people head to Tanzania for a safari trip, but that’s not all you can do in this stunning part of Africa. Zanzibar, for example, has some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. There is also a tiny hidden gem off the coast of Tanzania, called Chapwani Private Island. The long, sandy beach is dotted with a 10-roomed guest house, a private villa, and a restaurant. This is well worth a visit if you want to add some luxury to your Tanzanian adventure.

Pulau Macan, Indonesia

If one private island doesn’t do it for you, how about two? Pulau Macan in Indonesia is the ideal place to get away from the trials and tribulations of life. You can rent a little hut on one of the islands for less than you might think, but if you’re feeling flush, then you could just rent out the entire island. Why not?! The owners of the Pulau Macan resorts pride themselves in being super eco-friendly, so you know your luxury trip is good for the planet too.

Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

Okay, so if you really have a lot of cash to splash on your luxury trip, then you have to head to Necker Island, which has just recently opened back up for business. Just north of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, the whole of this island is actually owned by Sir Richard Branson. A room for a week in the off-season starts from $4525, so this really is an expensive luxury vacation. You can also hire the whole island for up to 24 people, starting from nearly $70,000 per night. However, you’ll always be able to say that you went to Necker Island.
