I am extremely happy to report that my 7-day cruise experience across Alaska with Regent Seven Seas is an experience I will never forget. After booking my reasonably-priced escape with the professional expert travel team at Alaska Cruise Experts, I was ready to set sail to one of the most popular cruise destinations in the world.
State-Of-The-Art Amenities and Inclusions
I was excited about the price I was quoted on the 7-day trip abroad and thought it was perfect with regards to what was included. This cruise featured free roundtrip air, early booking savings, free unlimited shore excursions, a one night stay in a luxury hotel before setting sail, pre-paid gratuities, free speciality restaurants and beverages and so much more! The list goes on and on, and on those days where you want to relax a bit from all of the free excursions, free 24-hour room service comes in handy.
A Seaplane Ride and Waterfalls in Ketchikan, Alaska
Once the ship departed from the Port of Vancouver, we set sail along the inside passage towards Alaska which was both stunning and surreal. This took one day and the ship then arrived in Ketchikan, Alaska at 8:00am the next morning where we got ready for our first excursion. I decided to go on Misty Fjords Seaplane Adventure where we were able to see awe-inspiring scenic views of the Ketchikan harbor and then visit the Misty Fjord’s National Monument.
You fly in a Cessna or Dehavilland aircraft which offers passengers convenient amenities such as an audio systems, headsets with music and narrations and souvenir guidebooks. When touring the monument, we saw some of the most amazing views of granite cliffs, river valleys and waterfalls. Our plane even landed on a saltwater fjord where we could take in the serene mountain views and surrounding nature, as well as the tranquil environment.
Medenhall Glacier Exploring in Juneau
We then returned to the ship for an evening of luxury dining, entertainment, mingling and relaxation. The next day we arrived in Juneau where we could visit the Mendenhall Glacier and take in the glorious sights of the city’s downtown waterfront. The Medenhall Glacier is one of the many 38 glaciers that evolved from the enormous 1500 square-foot Juneau Icefield. When you are there, you will also be able to enjoy interactive videos, exhibits, panoramic views and short films explaining the history of the area and attraction. An important tip: Don’t forget to wear appropriate walking shoes on any of these free excursions as you will be walking all over the place.
We then returned to the port to climb aboard the ship again and enjoy the many luxuries and amenities that the vacation package provided.
Magnificent Glaciers and Jet Boating in Wrangell
On day 5 of the trip, we journeyed to Wrangell where we could take advantage of the Stikine River and Glacier Lake by Jet Boat Tour. It is a bit longer at 4 hours as you are given the great opportunity to see one of the wildest rivers in North America, known as the Stikine River. You are also given the opportunity to immerse yourself in absolute wilderness and learn all about the gold rush, ride a thrilling jet boat and visit the world’s largest temperate rain forest.
Once we returned back to the ship from this amazing free excursion, I was both enlightened and exhausted. My world has opened up with what I discovered during this cruise and as we landed back in British Columbia in Prince Rupert, I felt a bit sad I had to leave Alaska’s breathtaking beauty.
An Educational Tour in Prince Rupert
In Prince Rupert we were able to take another free excursion where we discovered the ‘Mysteries and Traditions of the Northcoast’. We learned about the Tsimshian culture, fur trading, and the fishing industry and saw exhibits at the Great Hall and Treasure Gallery.
In A Nutshell
The entire Alaska cruise experience with Regent Seven Seas Cruises was exactly what I was looking for in a 7-day action-packed escape and I look forward to doing another unique itinerary next year when I once again book with the friendly team at Alaska Cruise Experts.
