For the last 5 weeks we have been living in Paradise! Thanks to an awesome housesitting gig, we are living in Barbados. Not bad for a couple of ‘homeless’ Aussies.
Both Michael and myself are huge beach lovers, even if its just it’s just sit under a palm tree and zen out to the sound of the waves. Barbados has some of the best beaches we’ve seen anywhere in the world.
Of course, the beaches are the main attraction on this island but there is a lot more to Barbados than sun, sand and surf.
The capital of Barbados isn’t exactly the showpiece for Barbados, but has it’s attractions. When the cruise lines are in there are a lot of tourists, and yes you will be asked 50 times if you want a taxi, but there is plenty to see, particularly if you get off the main street. Venture out and you will be pleasantly surprised.
The Boardwalk is a section of beach just south of Bridgetown that has a nice walkway for you to use. It stretches about mile or so and there are plenty of beautiful beaches to see. I would also argue that you won’t find another KFC with better views.
Harrison’s Cave is one of the main ‘places to see’ in Barbados. This professionally run cave shows off some of natures best work, even if it feels a little staged.
Hunte’s Garden is easily one of our favorite non-beach outings in Barbados. The flowers were stunning and the owner just might be the nicest guy you will ever meet.
There are beaches in Barbados (are you shocked!). They are just stunning. On a day when the sun is shining, the color of the water is mesmerizing. We could sit there and watch it all day.
Barbados isn’t just surrounded by beaches. Some of the cliffs that drop off into the ocean are just as impressive. Sit there and watch them get pounded by the best the Atlantic Ocean has to offer.
Have you been to Barbados? What was your highlight?
