Some years you need a bit of a pick me up to get into the spirit of Christmas. All you need to do is join the other revellers that are already out in full celebration. Here are the most festive places to visit in December.

 

 

Brussels

Brussels, Belgium is a great place to go in December, however it can be chilly so pre-book a taxi from the airport to save yourself from having to wait in the cold. The city goes all out for Christmas and the Brussels Christmas Market is a great place to go. You can do some last minute shopping and pick up handmade ornaments, seasonal decorations and some of the best chocolate in the world. There may be snow so dress warmly as you check out the Christmas trees, indulge in waffles, warm drinks, and then burn off all of the calories by going ice skating and dancing to the local music.

 

Prague

Bundle up warmly and visit Prague, Czech Republic in December. This festive city is filled with beautiful Christmas celebrations and it looks like a winter wonderland. Visit the Prague Zoo where you can see the special Christmas Program that they have organized. You can head to the Old Town Square and visit the Christmas Market. Be sure to stop and see the hourly show at the medieval Astronomical Clock in Wenceslas Square. Wander across the beautiful Charles Bridge which is lined with statues of Catholic saints covered with a dusting of snow. Make sure you visit St. Vitus Cathedral with its imposing gothic architecture and you may be able to catch a Christmas concert. Do some Christmas shopping in Prague where you can pick up beautiful glass ware, hip fashions, and handcrafted candles. Head to a pub where you can sit on a fur lined seat outside and feel decidedly festive with your inexpensive pint of beer.

 

 

New York

New York City is a fabulous place to visit in December. The city is decked out in Christmas decorations, and you visit the huge tree at Rockefeller Centre that is covered in thousands of lights. There are so many exciting activities to do in “the city that never sleeps.” Take a cruise down the Hudson River on the Staten Ferry and check out Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, and the breathtaking view of all of the towering buildings along the shore. Take an invigorating walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and marvel at this feat of engineering that was completed in 1883. Take a romantic carriage ride in Central Park and stop and go ice skating at Wollman Rink. Go Christmas shopping in one of the great areas for shopping like 5th Avenue, Soho, or Chinatown.

 

Cyprus

Take a trip to Cyprus in December and you can party on the beach and take part in the joyous festivities of Christmas. Explore the city centre of Nicosia that transforms Makarios Avenue into Christmas Avenue. Join the carollers in the Old Town of Nicosia and revel in the festive spirits. Visit the Christmas Fairyland Fair in Nicosia where you can see popular concerts of Greek and Cypriot singers. Travel to Aiya Naipa and stay at the beautiful Nissi Beach which is one of the top ten beaches in the world.

 

 

London

London is the capital city and there are many festivities to experience in December. London is filled with fun and exciting Christmas markets that you can explore. Wander through Hyde Park and explore the Winter Wonderland. Go on a tour of London with fellow revelers and see the iconic landmarks of the Tower of London, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the Globe Theatre. Visit St. Paul’s and experience midnight mass on Christmas Eve in this stunning cathedral. Do some Christmas shopping in fantastic shopping areas like Bond Street and Harrods.
