Traveling for business and pleasure has been very kind to me and has taken me all over the country and internationally, staying in various hotels around the world. This was one of my all time favorite hotel stays.
As soon as you walk through the revolving doors you will be greeted by the resplendent silver and regal purple decor of the Manhattan Hotel.
You will easily see within moments why the Manhattan Hotel was announced Winner of the 2013 Luxury Hotel Award for the second time. If I could use two words to describe my first almost overwhelming impression of this five star hotel, it would be ‘Pure Class’.
If we take a step back further, the location of this hotel is only 50m from Rotterdam Centraal Station and a ten minute taxi ride to Rotterdam Airport. In fact, this magnificently designed building can be seen very easily from the station almost as if it’s a beacon guiding you home.
Any childhood dreams of being treated as a Princess became fulfilled as soon as I entered the front doors and was greeted by warm friendly genuine staff at reception.
Smack bang in the middle of the financial district, the shopping precinct is a few blocks walk away, where you will be not more than a few minutes walk away from everything your spending heart desires.
My room was on one of the Executive levels. As an excitable coffee drinker, I was extremely impressed with the Illy coffee machine in my room. I felt like I had a little cafe open 24hrs whenever I felt the need for a caffeine hit. The bathroom had a nice big bath in it, and the bathrobes and slippers were also a luxurious touch. The room was spacious and my bed was very comfortable.
Executive rooms also include entry into the Executive Lounge that was a perfect haven for those of us that need a glass of complimentary wine to complete a pressing business task in comfort. The view of Rotterdam from the 10th floor windows in the Executive Lounge provides you with the best view of the vibe of Rotterdam while you mingle with other business travelers or friendly nomads.
Open from 6am – 10pm, this exclusive private club has complimentary drinks and snacks, internet access, newspapers, magazines and a 42″ TV.
I’m generally not a morning person, however the buffet breakfast included in my room package finds me awake early, showered and ready to have my coffee poured while I scan the myriad of food options for breakfast. The fun part is never knowing where to start. Alternatively if you’re prone to a midnight snack, then you’re in luck as room service is available 24hrs.
If you struggle to find time to keep fit while traveling, then this incredibly spacious fitness center here has a mixture of all the machines you need while you’re away for your usual gym. There is plenty of cardio equipment and weights, so you will always walk away feeling the super rush of endorphins. This is one of the only hotel gyms I’ve known to be open 24hrs. If you need a little extra motivation, then personal trainers are also available with some notice.
By far, the Manhattan Hotel Rotterdam is one of the most remarkable hotels I have stayed in.
